How To Rank Products on Amazon in 2021

amazon product ranking

One thing all Amazon sellers know: If you want to make money, you need to be ranked.

It’s an obvious part of selling on Amazon. If you can get yourself in the top 10 listings on the front page for multiple keywords, you have a good chance of making decent organic sales.

But, with Amazon’s constantly changing Terms of Service, spontaneous ban-hammers, and updates to the A9 Algorithm, it makes it a difficult area to navigate.

It begs the ultimate question:

How Do I Rank on Amazon?

There are multiple variables that contribute to ranking on Amazon but in this article I am going to discuss 3 ranking services that I have personally used and can vouch for.

What we will cover:

Rebate Key: What it is, how does it work, and why it’s awesome.

Viral Launch: The market dominating product launch platform, plus pros and cons.

ZonJump: The new kid on the block; how it works, why it’s great.

Each service has their own advantages and disadvantages and I will dive into each in a bit more detail.

So without further ado, let’s jump into it.

Best Amazon Product Ranking Tools in 2020

RebateKey is a relatively new “launch” service that works by getting you ranked quickly with full priced sales. Read below to get a quick rundown and personal review of RebateKey now.

How does it work?

When you sign up on you will be prompted to enter in all of your product details, description, images, and a custom link to the product page, funnel, or whatever you choose.

Once you click “create new campaign” you follow the steps until you are asked to enter in a link to the product page.

Since we’re talking about Amazon here, I use a 2-step Super URL. You can create this SuperURL with Rank Brain’s Free Super URL creator:

Here’s how it works:

free super url

rank brain super url rank brain super url

Enter in your product ASIN and whatever keyword you want to rank for. This spits out a custom link that you will then use in RebateKey’s dashboard.

How Many Rebates To Issue?

The way it works is you will determine how many units you want to “giveaway” or rebates you want to issue per day. Usually pick a number that will match your top competitors daily sales velocity.

For example, if the top spot is selling 15 per day then it might be worthwhile to pick 15 units per day.

You will then pick a discount amount which will determine how much your buyers are rebated.

Once your campaign is approved Rebatekey will charge your credit card for each day’s worth of units you agreed to giveaway plus a fee.

For example. If you’re product price is $20 and you selected to give away 10 units per day, your credit card will be charged:

$20 x 10 = $200

10 x $2.95 (RebateKey’s fee).

It feels frightening to see huge quantities of cash being charged to your credit card but here is what you have to keep in mind:

  1. Customers are buying your product at full price — Amazon’s algorithm LOVES this. You will start to gain traction incredibly fast.
  2. You’re only actually paying for Rebatekey’s fee plus whatever discount you chose to give to the buyer. As an example, if you rebate 100% of the purchase price then your total cost is:
    • RebateKey’s fee
    • Cost of goods
    • Amazon’s fees

30 days after customers buy your product on RebateKey you will be asked to approve their rebate at which point they will be sent a check in the mail for the Rebate amount that you selected when you setup the campaign.

Why It’s Awesome

RebateKey is a great launch service for a couple of reasons.

First, as mentioned before, customers who purchase on are buying at FULL PRICE. This is super important because it shows Amazon that customers NEED your product and are willing to buy it without discounts or incentives. This also weeds out bargain hunters and people who are generally “scammy” with deal sites.

The second reason it is great is because it has an internal messaging system that allows you to message buyers directly. Unlike Amazon that allows buyers to opt out of emails, with RebateKey you can message buyers a few days after they’ve purchased to follow up if they liked your product and then ask for a review. Keep in mind, this is completely within Amazon’s Terms of Service. We’re not asking them to give us a review because they got a free product but just asking them as you would any normal buyer.

As of this writing, I think this is the best Amazon Product Launch Service in 2020. The only downside is the lack of traffic which can make it difficult to sell a high volume of units per day.

I personally used RebateKey for my most recent launch and ranked on page 1 within 4 days and took over the “Amazon Choice Badge” after 8 days of my campaign!

Definitely worth the money.

Viral Launch

If you haven’t heard of Viral Launch by now then you must be living under a rock.

Viral Launch is an Amazon seller’s dream. Besides their launch services, they are known for their market leading research tools. However, since this is about how to rank on Amazon, we’re going to focus on the launch service.

How does it work?

Viral Launch has a deal website that gets hundreds of thousands of views per month (If you’re clever enough you can find which deal site it is pretty easily).

When you sign up for a launch you will enter in all of your product info, such as Title, Description, Bullet Points, and Images.

Viral Launch Discount

Add new product to begin your launch!

You will then create unique, exclusive, one time coupon codes in Seller Central for your product. Viral Launch recommends 90% off as this is the most effective, especially for high volume giveaways.

After you choose how many units to giveaway per day, you’re ready to go!

Ready Launch!

You can see more step-by-step instructions on how to set this up once you are actually in their dashboard (below is video #1 of #10 in their “how to” series).

Why It’s Awesome

Viral Launch is great for ranking products on Amazon because of the massive volume of shoppers on their deal site. If you are launching into a super competitive niche and you need to giveaway 30+ units per day, then Viral Launch is your service.

They have successfully executed thousands of launches for large brands all over the world. I personally used them back in November and got my product ranked #3 for my main keyword in only 6 days!

If you want to get $50 Off your launch or 30% Off any of their other services you can use my Viral Launch Coupon Code at checkout by using this discounted link here:

Zonjump is the newer launch services on the block but don’t mistake that for meaning it’s not experienced. The guys behind this know what they’re doing and it shows.

I’ve read raving review after review about this service and I wasn’t so sure until I tried it myself.

With their unique launching system using highly targeted Facebook ads, I was able to get to rank #2 for my main keyword in a little over one week!

How does it work?

Zonjump offers two different launch approaches:

  1. Product Launch
  2. Discounted Sales
zonjump launch services

You get two launches to choose from.

The “Product Launch” is like it says. This option is best if you’re trying to launch a new product and want to get up to the top of the first page. This is why they recommend the deep discount so that you can make sure you sell enough units per day.

The “Discounted Sales” option is more for if you already have a product that is established and you want to increase ranking on a new or existing keyword. This might boost you up a bit but don’t expect to push through 30 units per day with only a 50% discount.

Why It’s Awesome

Zonjump is great because they target people who are already interested in buying your type of product. This highly refined group of buyers are more likely to become brand loyal and come back for later purchases as opposed to someone who is just looking for a deal on anything.

Plus, Zonjump is a much cheaper option than Viral Launch since you pay per coupon. The more units you plan to giveaway, the cheaper your coupon rate will be.

If you want to use Zonjump for your next launch you can get 15% OFF by using my Zonjump coupon codeZON15

All of these launch services are great for getting your product ranked on Amazon in 2020. However, they only help you get ranked but WILL NOT keep you there unless you have the following qualities:

  1. Awesome product that people WANT
  2. Professional photos that stand out
  3. Kick-ass listing with compelling copy
  4. Reviews, reviews, reviews (I recommend 10-20 before launch)

That’s right. You can get ranked but if you don’t have all of the above, then you risk falling right back to where you started.

How bad would it suck to do all that work and spend all that money and not even get any organic sales?

That’s why you have to make sure your listing could sell regardless of a launch. You need to have everything dialed in and ensure that your listing is in tip-top shape BEFORE the launch.

All of these strategies work but you should first evaluate your budget and end goals as this will help inform your ultimate decision.

I hope this article was useful in helping you decide which launch service YOU should use to get your products ranked on amazon in 2021.

      Hi Cherry,

Good question. It is best to get 5-10 reviews before using a launch service like Zonjump. This will ensure that you have a better chance of sticking once you get ranked. This is why I recommend using RebateKey first for reviews.

Hi Cherry, yes you can use a superURL with RebateKey. And to ask customers for a review you can ask directly but be careful with wording. The question has to be neutral in nature. You can see my blog post about Reviews for further details on how you should request for reviews.

        Hey Harrison,

Would it be better to have your listing price set low whilst using rebate key for a launch period? To rank quickly whilst minimising the amount charged to your card each day?

Then Increase your price slowly after you are ranked and organically sticking to page one?

          Hi Daniel,

Yes this is a good strategy and typically what I do as having a high price during a giveaway can really add up quick using RebateKey. Keep in mind though, that if you have the opportunity to run lightning deals in the future, Amazon will use your lowest listed price so it is something to consider.

For example, if you sell for $20 normally, and lower your price to $12 for a giveaway. Your lightning deals price will be based off the $12 price and not your $20 retail price.

      Hi Cherry,

4 days is still too soon to see any improvements in your ranking. Generally you would need to giveaway 8-10 days and then ranking will start to take effect several days after that.

Furthermore, without seeing your product, images, or text, I have no way to tell if your product will convert. Usually it’s best to target a keyword that you KNOW will stick. If you’re running PPC already and you’re consistently converting for certain keywords, then you should target THOSE keywords for your launch.

Too many sellers launch and then they wonder why they don’t rank or their ranking fails and it’s not the launch’s fault but it’s their product.

Just need to make sure that all the parts are working together.
